1/2 cup lukewarm water
2 teaspoons sugar
1 envelope yeast
4 cups water
1/4 cup shortening
1 tablespoon salt
5 teaspoon sugar
11 cups all purpose flour

Directions:
Directions:
Mix 2 teaspoons white sugar with 1/2 cup of warm water. Sprinkle yeast over top and let stand until foamy (about 10-15 minutes).
Heat together shortening, 4 cups water, salt, and 5 teaspoons sugar.
Cool to lukewarm. Put the flour in a large bowl and make a well in the middle.
Add yeast and shortening mixture to the well all at once. Stir and then knead until smooth and elastic.
Cover with a towel and let rise in a warm place until double in size. Turn out on a well floured surface.
Knead well and divide in four pieces.
Shape and put in loaf pans.
Let rise until double in size.
Bake at 450 º F for 15 minutes and then lower heat to 350 º F and cook until golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
Remove from pan and brush with shortening (optional).
