1 large onion
4 T. olive oil
1 1/2 lbs. ground chuck or ground pork sausage (optional)
20 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 bunch parsley, finely chopped (optional)
1 tsp. basil leaves
3 bay leaves
9 cans beef bouillon
3 cans (12 oz.) tomato paste
1 can (29 oz.) tomato puree
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
1/2 c. sugar (to taste)
1/3 c. grated Italian cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Saute onion in olive oil; then add ground chuck or pork ground sausage and cook until brown.

Add all remaining ingredients except sugar.

Cover and simmer for 4-6 hours

Add sugar and stir thoroughly.

There is nothing like the smell of a big pot of sauce cooking all day.....and nothing like always having a container-or-two of sauce in the freezer. This recipe was handed down by my Italian Nonna. To keep the sauce from sticking, you can put a slab of spareribs on the bottom of the pan and as the sauce cooks, the meat will fall of the bones!
