1/2 Cup Crisco
1/2 Cup butter at room temperature
2 egg whites (Can use powdered and reconstitute per directions)
1 Box 10 x powdered sugar
1 Tsp almond extract
1/2 Tsp lemon or vanilla extract
1/2 & 1/2 or evaporated milk as necessary. Start with 1 Tbsp and add more if needed
(I have used flavored coffee creamers-amaretto or hazelnut and not used the extracts or other milk)

Beat Crisco and butter at high speed of mixer until blended. Begin adding powdered sugar and then add egg whites. Finish adding powdered sugar and milk as necessary. Then add extracts. Beat at least 5-10 minutes on high speed after everything has been added. I have used flavored coffee creamer in place of milk and then not needed extracts also.

Got this recipe from a cake baking course I took in Columbia in the early 1970's. My favorite. I even add melted chocolate.
