3-28 oz. cans crushed tomatoes
3-29 oz cans tomato sauce
1-18 oz. can tomato paste
3 cups water
½ green pepper, chopped
½ large onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
1 Tbsp parsley flakes
1 Tbsp pepper
2 tsps celery salt
2 tsps salt
1 tsp sugar
3 bay leaves



Put all ingredients into a large pot. Cook on medium heat until it starts to simmer. Turn heat to low and cook with lid on for 45 minutes, simmering and stirring occasionally. Take lid off and continue cooking 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Meatballs may be added and cooked with the sauce during the 2 to 3 hour period. This sauce freezes well and gets better as it gets older. Yield: 8 quarts.
