2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 shortening, melted
1 c. sour milk (2 tbsp. vinegar to milk)
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. cocoa powder
1 c. boiling water
Filing:
1 c. milk
5 tbsp. flour
1 c. sugar
1/4 pound butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixer, cream sugar and eggs. Add liquid shortening, sour milk, and vanilla, mix well. Add flour, salt, baking soda, and cocoa, mix well. Add water slowly while mixing until blended. Spoon on sheets and bake at 350º. Let cool. Make the filling by heating milk. Add flour and stir until thick. Let it get cold in the freezer. Beat out lumps. Add sugar, butter, shortening, and vanilla and beat until fluffy. Put together, and wrap in wax paper.

Aunt Nancy would make Gobs in Pennsylvania and these are the best Gobs I have ever had. What makes them so good is the icing is not too sweet like you find in most. Sometimes I use the icing recipe for a chocolate cake I am baking. I love these Gobs frozen! - Christy
