1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
2 cups applesauce
4 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 chopped nuts if desired

Directions:

Mix wet ingredients then mix in dry. Spread batter in a greased Bundt pan or 2 loaf pans. Bake at 350º for 45 minutes. When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar and decorate with holly leaves and berries from the yard.

Olivia Walton always made applesauce cake for Christmas and so do I. It's featured in one of my favorite Christmas movies called The Homecoming. "It wouldn't be Christmas without Livie's applesauce cake" Grandpa reminds us.
