3 T. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
4 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sour milk
1 T. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar, shortening, eggs. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture, alternating milk and dry ingredients. Add just enough flour for soft dough. Roll and cut with donut cutter. Fry in hot oil. Cool slightly before putting in bag with sugar or cinnamon/sugar mixture or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
