Directions:Cut shortening into dry ingredients, then add wet ingredients. Stir in raisins last otherwise they get dry flour stuck in their crevices, true story. Turn dough onto floured bread board and knead gently 5-6 times. Make one large loaf or two small loaves by shaping into ball and pat down a little. Cut a cross into the dough with a sharp knife about 1/2 inch deep. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Bake at 375º for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown. |

Notes: This recipe came from Tipperary, Ireland and is a must for St. Patrick's Day. I make extra because I love it so much. Don't leave out the raisins either! Remember, your Great Great Grandfather Kelly came over from Ireland, so there's Irish blood in ya!
