2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
5 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons sugar
5 tablespoons cold shortening
1 1/2 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients together.
Mix shortening (using fingers) with dry ingredients until the shortening forms small balls ( i.e. is a crumbly texture).
Mix in milk. On a floured board pat out dough until it is about 1/2 inch thick and cut into biscuits using a floured glass or cutter. Bake at 500 º F for 12 minutes.

This is the recipe that Mom used after she left the farm and did not have a supply of cream.
Can use a floured rolling pin to roll out dough. Baking time depends on the size of the biscuits. This is the tea biscuit recipe Annie Bramhill used for her Raisin Swirl tea biscuits
