1 c. chopped onion
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 can (28 oz) stewed tomatoes
2 cans tomato paste
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
½ tsp dried basil
¼ tsp oregano
1/8 tsp majoram
1/8 tsp paprika
dash of pepper
2 eggs
1 garlic clove minced
2 tsp parsley flakes
1 lb. ground beef
1 c. grated Parmesan cheese
½ c. bread crumbs
Directions:
Directions:
In a soup kettle or dutch oven, saute onion in oil until tender. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato passte, sugar and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Meanwhile in a large bowl, heat eggs, garlic and parsley. Add the beef and mix well. Sprinkle with cheese and bread crumbs and mix gently. Shape into 1½" balls and add to the sauce. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes until meat is no longer pink.
