Directions:
Melt chocolate pieces over hot water. Remove from the heat and stir in sour cream and salt. Chill in the refrigerator overnight. Next day roll vanilla wafers with a rolling pin to make fine crumbs. Mix crumbs with rum, melted butter, cocoa powder, confectioners’ sugar, chopped nuts and salt. Combine well until mixture holds a shape easily. Form the chilled chocolate mixture into balls the size of a grape. Now cover the chocolate center (this is the surprise) with the vanilla wafer crumb mixture. At this point, they are the size of a walnut. Roll in chocolate sprinkles and store in an air tight container in the refrigerator for 24 hours to mellow. The rum flavor is accented with additional storage. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.
