Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm water in a sm bowl. Let stand 10 min. In a non-metal bowl combine 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup sugar. Mix thoroughly then with a non-metal spoon, slowly stir in 1/2 cup milk and dissolved yeast mixture. Put in a gallon size zip lock with the date written on it. This is day one for your starter. Copy the directions below and the recipe for the bread to give to friends with a starters.

Do not refrigerate or use metal bowls or spoons. It is normal for batter to rise, bubble and ferment. When air gets in the bag, let it out.
Day 1: Do nothing - This is the date written on the bag
Days 2-5: Mush bag
Day 6: Add 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup milk
Days 7-9:Mush bag
Day 10:
Pour contents of bag into a non-metal bowl adding 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup milk. Stir with a non-metal spoon. Measure out 2 separate batters of 1/2 cup each and put into gallon zip locks. Write the date on the bags - this is day 1 for the starters. Keep one for yourself and give one to a friend with recipe. The remaining batter is used to make bread. (Should be about 1 cup.) You can also put the starter in the fridge on day one for a week or freeze. If you freeze it, allow 3 hours to thaw at room temperate.
*I have modified this so you only have 2 starters.
