1 egg well beaten
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
1 tbs. melted shortening
1 1/3 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. double action baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Add sugar, salt, milk and shortening to beaten egg. Add flour and baking powder sifted together. Cut slices of bread in halves, dip in batter and fry in
1 in. fat. Scrape most of batter off bread on sides of bowl before frying.
