2 eggs
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup molasses
3/4 melted shortening
2 1/4 cups flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. ginger
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 cup boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
Add beaten eggs to sugar, molasses and melted shortening. Add flour, sifted with other dry ingredients. Add hot water last. Bake in individual greased pans or in a shallow pan at 350º F. for about 40 minutes.
Serve with butter, applesauce or whipped cream.
