1 tbsp. olive oil
8 tbsp. butter (melted)
1 bunch green onion (chopped finely)
2 cloves garlic, finely sliced
1/3 c. clam juice ( or 1 cube clam base)
1/8 c. fresh basil
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
3 cans ( 7 1/2 oz.) minced clams (with juice)
2 medium tomatoes (diced) optional
1/2 c. white wine
Spaghetti uncooked

Directions:

Cook spaghetti, drain. Heat oil, saute garlic, onion, and basil. Let cool, add butter, clams, tomatoes, wine, cayenne, and salt. Let simmer 5 minutes. Add clams, stir and cook uncovered 4-5 minutes. Add 1/2 of the sauce to the drained pasta and toss well. Place in serving dish and add remaining sauce on top. Serve hot.

If you can locate it, add 1 cube of clam base to the sauce while cooking. Dissolve it in the clam juice from the minced clams. If available a 25- 1/2 ounce can of ocean clams may be substituted for the minced clams.
