1 cup sugar; 1 cup apple sauce; 1/3 cup oil; 2 eggs; 3 tbs milk; 2 cups sifted flour; 1 tsp baking soda; ½ tsp baking powder; ½ tsp cinnamon; ¼ tsp salt; ¼ tsp nutmeg; ¾ cup chopped nuts


Directions:

Combine in mixer bowl sugar, applesauce, oil, eggs and milk. Sift together flour, soda, baking powder, flour, spices and salt. Add to applesauce until well combined. Stir in nuts.

Turn batter into well-greased loaf pan. Sprinkle with ¼ cup brown sugar and ½ tsp cinnamon and ¼ cup chopped nuts.

Bake in 350° oven. Cook until toothpick comes out clean. Once brown, cover loosely with foil.

Debby: I always remember looking in the cupboard to see if there were ice cream pails full of cookies in the pantry... Grandma cooking a huge meal for all of us and still managing to set aside boiled potato's for Rick (who didn't like his mashed) and she would always let Ron get away without having to eat all his veg (we were jealous)!
