Dry Ingredients: 4 cups Flour; 2 cups Sugar; 1 tsp. Baking Powder; I tbsp. Anise seeds

Wet Ingredients: 3/4 cup Syrup; 1 1/2 tsp. Coffee; 1 1/2 cups Water (cold); 1 Egg

Preheat oven to 300 F; Prepare a 9x9 pan (grease and flour)

Combine Dry Ingredients: 4 cups Flour; 2 cups Sugar; 1 tsp. Baking Powder; I tbsp. Anise seeds. Combine Wet Ingredients: 3/4 cup Syrup; 1 1/2 tsp. Coffee; 1 1/2 cups Water (cold); 1 Egg. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix well. Cook for 1 hour in 300 F oven. Bread will pull away from the edges of the pan when ready

Born 9 November 1920 Mary Julia Reid, married William Croft McKenzie having 3 sons Croft (Jack), Kenneth and William. Later Married Les Squire having a 4th son Les. Died 11 December 2007 at the age of 87.
