3 or 4 beets, pealed and chopped or diced
4 1/2 cups water
1 cup potato cubes
1 cup sliced carrots
1/2 cup chopped onions
1 tablespoon dill
1 teaspoon salt
2 heaping tablespoons sour cream
1 tablespoon flour

Directions:
Directions:
1. In a pot, add 1/2 cup water, 2 heaping tablespoons sour cream, 1/2 cup chopped onion, 1 tablespoon flour. Boil, stirring the mixture until the onion looks transparent. If water boils out, add a little more.
2. Add 4 cups water, chopped beets, potatoes, carrots and dill. Bring to a boil; then simmer for an hour.
3. Instead of water, one can use meat stock and omit the cream.
