Piece of suet
2 T. sugar
1 T. vinegar
1 t. salt
Pepper to taste
1 good-sized onion, grated
1 c. hot water
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
Large can of tomatoes
Chili powder to taste (or 3 T.)
Cooked pinto beans (or kidney)

Directions:
Try-out (fry) suet and remove from pan. Add sugar, vinegar, salt, pepper, onion & hot water. Add the ground beef a pinch at a time to the simmering mixture. Cook slowly. Add tomatoes and chili powder. Simmer. Add more water if mixture becomes too thick. Add beans last.
