2 egg whites
½ cup seasoned bread crumbs
½ cup finely chopped green pepper
1 can (8oz.) pizza sauce, divided
¼ cup finely chopped onion
1 garlic clove, minced
1lb. lean ground beef
6 slices Italian bread (½ in. thick)
2 tsp. olive oil
1 ½ tsp. Italian seasoning
½ cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

Directions:

1. In a large bowl, combine the egg whites, bread crumbs, green pepper, 1/3 cup pizza sauce, onion and garlic. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into six oval patties.
2. In a large nonstick skillet, cook patties over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on each side or until a meat thermometer reads 160 degrees and the juices run clear.
3. Meanwhile, place bread on an ungreased baking sheet. Brush with oil and sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Broil 4in. from heat for 2-3 minutes or until lightly toasted.
4. Microwave remaining pizza sauce, covered, on high for 10-20 seconds or until heated through. Place patties on toast; top with cheese and sauce.
