1 cup soft butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
small pecan halves, candied cherries, pitted dates, blanched almonds
flaked coconut

Directions:
Directions:
Shape dough around nut or piece of fruit to form 1" balls. Roll in coconut. Bake in 325º oven about 20 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen. Store airtight.

This was a favorite Christmas cookie that Grandma Rust made when I was a child. She would bake many cookie varieties in December for the holidays and then freeze them. We kids always found them - they are just as good frozen as fresh!
