2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 egg yolk
enough milk to make 2/3 cup will egg yolk added

Filling
4-6 apples, diced
3/4 - 1 c sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. corn flake crumbs

1 egg white, beaten

Icing
3/4 c. icing sugar
1 tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Pastry
Cut shortening into flour and salt until a small crumb consistency is obtained. Add milk/egg mixture and combine until a ball is form. (do not over mix). Roll 1/2 the dough and line a cookie sheet cover the sides as well. Sprinkle corn flake crumbs over pastry.

Filling
Mix together apples, sugar and cinnamon. Put over corn flake crumbs.

Roll out remaining dough and cover filling. Seal edges. Brush with egg beaten egg white. Bake at 350º for 45 - 60 minutes depending on the hardness of the apple. ( hard apples like McIntosh will take longer to cook then soft apples like red delicious)

Icing
Combine icing sugar, milk and vanilla. Ice apple strudel while hot.
