Saltine crackers
2 sticks butter
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. salted nut pieces (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Line cookie sheet with foil. Don’t forget sides.
Spray foil with Pam.
Cover pan with single layer of crackers, salt side up
Boil (stirring constantly exactly five minutes): 2 sticks butter, 1 cup sugar, 2 tsp. vanilla
Pour over crackers.
Sprinkle with ½ cup salted nut pieces.
Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
Cool on wire rack.
Peel off foil and break into random pieces.

For Chocolate Crack:
Substitute graham crackers for saltines.
Substitute brown sugar for sugar.
Use two cups chocolate chips instead of nuts.
Chill.

This recipe was one of several in a "fluff" mystery book I read during my summer escape time. The story revolved around a murder and the owner of the bakery solved the mystery, of course.
