• 4 cups flour
• 4 tsp. baking powder
• 1 Ŋ tsp. baking soda
• Ŋ tsp. salt
• 2/3 cup shortening
• 2 cups sugar
• 4 eggs, well beaten
• 4 squares, melted chocolate
• 1 cup milk
• 1 cup sour cream
• 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, baking powder, soda, and salt together. Cream shortening, with sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and chocolate and beat thoroughly. Add sifted dry ingredients, and liquids alternating in small amounts, beating well after each addition.

Pour into greased pan and bake at 350 ēC oven for 1 hour. When cake is cold, cut Ŋ inch thick, spread with thick layer of ice cream and cover.
