Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/2 c butter
1/2 c margarine (can use all butter)
1 c sugar
2 eggs
3 c flour
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar till fluffy. Add the rest and mix in well. This is soft dough - refrigerate overnight. Roll out 1/4" or less (not as thin as pie dough). Place cutouts on greased baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes at 350º or until edges just start to brown. Cool for one minute and remove from baking sheet to cool on racks or paper. When cookies are cool, they can be stacked up to 6 high on a plate till glazed.

Decorating glaze: 1 c C&H powdered sugar and 1 tbsp + 1 tsp water. Stir until no lumps. Add food coloring of your choice.

Brush glaze on cookies from center out to edges. Decorate immediately if you wish with colored balls, sugars, or candies such as M&Ms. They will need to dry about 6 hours before stacking or packaging up. If you just put on a clear, uncolored glaze, they can dry a day and then be decorated with food coloring pens. These are available at most stores that sell candy or cookie making supplies - "FooDoodler"

Helpful suggestions: While rolling out, keep unused cookie dough in refrigerator. Put leftover pieces of dough from cutting out cookies back into the refrigerator in a separate bowl till cool enough to roll out.
