4 1/2 tsp. or 2 pkg. yeast dissolved in
3 1/2 cup warm water
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tbsp. salt (yes, that is correct)
3 Tbsp. shortening
9-10 cups flour

.

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add ingredients but only half the flour. Mix well by hand or I use my dough hook on the kitchen aid mixer. Then add the rest of the flour and let it knead or knead by hand about 5 minutes. Let rise about an hour. Punch down. Divide dough in half and place in greased loaf pan. Let rise again about 45 min. or so. Lightly carve a Chi-ro in the top...recalling the Bread of Life. Bake 450º for 25 minutes. Brush tops with butter if desired.

Personal Notes:
Nice large loaves for a nice large family :) I've taught all the kids to make this.
