6 lg. yellow onion, thinly sliced
2 T. oleo
1 T. olive oil
6 c. beef broth
1/3 c. white or red wine
salt and pepper to taste
6 slices buttered toasted French bread
Grated Parmesan cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Place onions in butter and oil in heavy 4-qt. saucepan; cover. Cook over low heat for 15 minutes, stirring frequently. Pour in beef broth and wine; simmer for 30 minutes. Stir in salt and pepper. Ladle soup into individual bowls; top each serving with a slice of toasted bread. Sprinkle with cheese; run under the broiler till the cheese melts.
