Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Pudding
1/2 c broken nuts (optional)
2 squares of unsweetened chocolate
2 tbsp butter
1 C flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 C sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 C milk
1 tsp vanilla

Topping
1/2 C white sugar, optional - we find it too sweet
1/4 C brown sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 1/2 C cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Put chocolate and butter into a shallow baking cup and set in hot water until melted (microwave works if you are careful). When melted stir until smooth. Meanwhile in a smallish casserole dish (or buttered 8x8x2 cake pan) sift flour, b. powder, sugar and salt together. Stir in milk thoroughly, add vanilla, then chocolate, beating until smooth. Add nuts if used.
To make topping, quickly blend dry ingredients then sprinkle over the cake batter. Pour cold water gently and evenly all over the top. Don't stir. Bake 40 to 50 minutes at 350º. MUST serve warm with ice cream.

Personal Notes:
This is soooo easy to make in one casserole dish and absolutely yummy with ice cream. We don't make it anymore but in our youthful days it was an absolute favourite - with ice cream.
