2 c. sifted flour
3 t. baking powder
3/4 t. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs well beaten
1 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 425º. Sift first 3 ingredients. Work shortening with spoon until creamy. Add sugar gradually, continuing to work until light. Mix eggs and milk. Add flour alternately with egg mixture to sugar mixture. Turn into 2 greased 8" x 8" x 2" pans; bake 20-25 minutes.
Serve hot in squares with butter or margarine and jam.
Can be made in a 13" x 9" pan.
