18 ripe cucumbers, peeled, seeded and cut in 1 inch cubes
2 cups white sugar
2 cups white vinegar (distilled)
2 cinnamon sticks
1 tsp. whole cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Cook, covered in water with 1/2 cup salt, the cucumbers until tender. Drain well.

Mix the vinegar, sugar, cinnamon sticks and cloves. Bring to a boil and pour over cucumbers and let stand overnight. Next day; drain syrup into a pan and cook syrup to boiling point and pour over cucumbers again. Add 2 bottles maraschino cherries, one drained, use the juice from one bottle of the cherries in the syrup. Let stand overnight. Next day; bring all to a boil, transfer to canning jars and seal in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
