Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3/4 cup dry bread crumbs
1 cup milk
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
2 beaten eggs
1/4 cup grated onion
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sage (I add about 1 tsp. sweet basil and often some oregano)
dash pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Soak bread crumbs in milk; add meat, eggs, onion and seasonings; mix well. Form in individual loaves; place in greased muffin pans. Cover with Piquant Sauce [ Combine 3T. brown sugar, 1/4 c. catsup, 1/4 tsp. nutmeg, and 1 tsp. dry mustard.] (I cover with catsup sprinkled with ground pepper and pwd. garlic.) Bake in Moderate oven (350º) 45 minutes.
Makes 8 servings. Or form one loaf in 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch pan. Spread with
sauce, bake 1 hour.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Usually, I substitute quick-cooking oatmeal, a combination of oatmeal and crushed saltines, or crushed saltines for the dry bread crumbs. I skip the salt if I use only saltines. I often add around 1/2 tsp. garlic powder, too. I use catsup in place of the milk and add about 1/2 c. water and skip the soaking of the crumbs.
