MERINGUE SHELL:

6 small egg whites
1 1/2 C sugar
1 tsp vanilla

STRAWBERRY FILLING:

2 C whipping cream
1/3 C sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 pint strawberries, sliced and divided
1 (2 3/4 oz) package sliced almonds, divided

Directions:
Beat egg whites until foamy and peaks are formed. Beat in sugar 1 T at a time until dissolved; beat in vinegar. Pour into a 9" springform pan; spread and smooth the top. Bake at 325º oven for 1 hour; place on rack to cool. After removing from oven, cut center so center will drop.

Whip cream; add sugar and vanilla while continuing to beat. Fold in strawberries and almonds, reserving a small amount for garnishing.

Remove meringue shell from springform pan. Fill center with strawberry filling. Garnish with reserved strawberries and almonds.
