Sift together: 2 1/4 c. cake flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. sugar

add..
1/2 c. shortening
2/3 of 1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat together for two minutes
Add remaining 1/3 c. milk
Add 1/2 to 2/3 c. egg whites (4 large eggs) unbeaten
Beat for two minutes

Pans: 2 round
8 " layers Greased and floured
Temp 350º oven
Bake 30-35 minutes
