Mix together well:
1/2 c. soft shortening (part butter)
1 1/2 c. brown sugar (packed)
2 eggs

sift together:
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Add to first mix: 1 c. sour cream
t tsp. vanilla
Stir in chopped nuts

Chill until dough is firm. Drop by tsp. about 2 inches apart onto slightly greased baking sheet. Bake approx. 10-15 minutes in 400º Oven

Brown butter icings:
melt over low heat until golden brown. 1/3 c. butter. Blend in 1 1/2 c. confectioners sugar. Add 1 tsp. vanilla. Stir in slowly until consistency to spread 1-2 tbsp. hot water
