1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
2 cups buttermilk
1/2 cup cocoa
2 tsp. soda

Chocolate Frosting:
1/2 cup ole
2 oz. chocolate
condensed milk
vanilla
1 box confectioner sugar
chopped nuts if desired

Directions:
Directions:
Add sugar to shortening.
Add hot water to cocoa to make a paste.
Add paste to sugar and shortening.
Add flour and buttermilk alternately (1 cup at a time).
To each cup of buttermilk add a slightly heaping tsp. of soda.
Stir it well until it foams.
Add to batter.

Frosting:
Melt ole and chocolate.
Add condensed milk, sugar and vanilla.
Make it creamy.
Add chopped nuts if desired.
