1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt
1 pound (4 cups) powdered sugar
3-5 Tbsp. milk or cream

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and shortening together with an electric mixer. Add vanilla and salt. Beat in sugar, one cup at a time, blending well after each addition. Scrape sides and bottom of bowl often with a spatula. Add 3 Tbsp. of milk and beat at high speed until light and fluffy. Add more milk for a thinner frosting. Makes 3 cups.
