1 C shortening
2 C sugar
2 eggs
1 C sour cream
1 tsp vanilla
4 1/2 C flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350,
Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
Add sour cream and vanilla; mix well.
Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.
Mix till dry ingredients are blended well.
Put a handful of flour onto working area and about 1/3 of the dough.
Knead the dough a little and roll out to 1/2 inch thick.
Cut with a round cookie cutter and place onto a greased cookie sheet.
Repeat with remaining dough.
Sprinkle each cookie with sugar and bake 15-18 minutes.
Don't let them get too brown.
