Ingredients: Bottom Crust 1 c. Flour 1 tbsp. Cocoa 1 tsp. Baking Powder 4 1/2 tbsp. Sugar 1 tsp. Vanilla 1 Egg White 3/8 c. Butter
Layers 4 Egg Yolks 2 tbsp. Warm Water 6 1/2 tbsp. Sugar 3 drops Almond Extract 1/4 tsp. Cinnamon 1 tsp. Vanilla 3 Egg Whites 1/2 c. Flour 1 tbsp. Cocoa 5 tbsp. Corn Starch 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
Filling 1 can Cherry Pie Filling Whipped Cream Grated Semi-Sweet Chocolate

Directions:Bottom Crust 1. Mix like pie dough and press into cake pan. Bake at 350º for 20 min.
Layers 1. Beak yolks and water until frothy. 2. Slowly add 4 1/2 tsp. sugar and beat until creamy and thick 3. Mix in next three ingredients. 4. In separate bowl beat whites stiff and add 2 tsp. sugar. Beat and put on top of first batter; don't mix. 5. In separate bowl mix cocoa, corn starch, flour and baking powder. 6. Sift on top of batter and fold in. 7. Line cake tin with wax paper 8. Bake at 350º for 30-35 min. 9. Cut in half with thread to create two layers
Building the Cake 1. 1/2 cherry pie filling on bottom crust 2. Spread whipped cream over cherry filling 3. Cake layer 4. Cherry 5. Whipped Cream 6. Cake layer 7. Spread whipped cream all over top and sides 8. Grate semi-sweet chocolate over top |

Notes: This recipe was given to me from my friend Naomi. It was her grandmother's recipe from Germany and is also called "Schwartswalder Kerschtorte". This is not a very sweet cake.
