1/2 lb prunes, WITH pits
2 C cold water
3/4 to 1 C sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1 inch cinnamon stick or about 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/3 C boiling water
1/3 C cornstarch
walnuts, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Bring prunes and cold water to a boil. Let cool.
Crack prune pits and put little seed in with prunes and juice.
Add sugar, salt, cinnamon or cinnamon stick and boiling water. Simmer 10 minutes.
Dilute cornstarch with enough cold water to pour easily.
Add to prune mixture and stirring constantly, cook 5 minutes.
Remove cinnamon stick.
Chill
Serve with cream.

This recipe is a tribute to a mother's love. DD would fix this when I came home from college and I always asked for it. It is a lot of work and now I appreciate the time it took her to make it for me.
