6 tbsp sugar
4 tbsp water
2 tbsp bitters

Directions:
Combine ingredients in saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil on low heat. As it boils - it is a syrup. You can keep this mixture in the refrigerator indefinitely.

To mix the Old Fashioned, add syrup to your taste, 1 shot of bourbon (Don suggests that you use a mild, not heavy, bourbon such as sour mash. Better to use a Canadian rye or a brandy).

You can make as much syrup as you wish at one time - just use the ratios of parts: 2 bitters/4 water/6 sugar
