Faith's Old World Apple Pie Recipe

2 cups finely chopped tart apples (I use Granny Smith's)
3/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. flour
1/3 tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup sour cream
1 unbaked pie shell ( 9" butter crust best)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
Lemon juice

Topping:
1/3 cup flour
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Peel and chop apples and set aside. Combine sugar, flour and salt; then add egg, vanilla and sour cream beat until smooth. Add apples and mix in the spices.
Pour into pie pan and bake at 375º for 15 minutes, then reduce to 325º and bake for 25 minutes more. Remove from oven.

Combine the toppings blending well. Sprinkle over baked pie, return pie to oven and bake @ 325 for 20 more minutes.


(I sprinkle lemon juice over apples before adding toppings)
