Marzipan Brownies Recipe

3 oz. unsweetened chocolate
½ cup butter
¾ cup flour
¼ t. baking powder
dash salt
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 t. almond extract
7 oz. marzipan

Directions:
Directions:
1. Spray an 8” square pan with cooking spray and preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Heat chocolate and butter in a metal bowl set over a pot of boiling water, or in a double boiler. Stir constantly until melted and smooth. Set aside to cool.
3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
4. Add sugar to cooled chocolate mixture. Stir to combine well.
5. Add eggs to the chocolate mixture, mixing well after each addition.
6. Add almond extract to chocolate mixture. Stir well.
7. Add flour mixture to chocolate mixture. Stir well to combine.
8. Soften marzipan and roll out to an 8” square.
9. Spread half of the brownie batter in the prepared pan. Top with the marzipan. Top marzipan with the remaining brownie mixture.
10. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Allow brownies to cool before cutting into squares.
