1 Batch Yeast Dough see index
Omit the 2 egg yolks and use 2 whole eggs
Increase dry instant yeast to 6 tbsp
1/2 lb Poppy Seed
3/4 c Sugar
4 tbsp Karo syrup
3 tbsp Milk
Dash of vanilla

Dough
Make one batch of Yeast Dough using changes in this ingreient list
Roll out dough to 1/2 in after first proofing
Use cookie cutter or glass to cut out 3 in circles
Put a spoon full of filling in middle of each circle
Pinch edges together to form a ball
Cover with cloth and set aside to proof for 20 min
Heat pan of oil to 350 deg F
Carefully place doughnuts in hot oil do not crowd
When golden brown on one side use a fork to turn over and finish frying
Finish with a dusting of powdered sugar

Filling
Toast poppy seed in frying pan over low heat until it starts to pop and release aroma
With mortar and pestil grind poppy seed into a semipaste
In small pan combine poppy seed, sugar, Karo syrup and milk
Heat through if to thick add a little more milk
