- 1 tablespoon yeast
- 1/2 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 cup margarine
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups water, luke warm
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 8 cups flour, all purpose
Directions:

Stir the first three ingredients together in a small bowl. Let rest in warm place for 5 minutes.

Mix egg, sugar, margarine, salt, water, & molasses. Put flour in large bowl; make well in the middle. When the yeast mixture is bubbly, pour into the molasses mixture and then into the well. Start mixing the dough quickly from the centre. Once all of the flour is incorporated, turn onto table. Knead dough for 5 minutes. Place dough back into bowl and cover. Let raise until double. Punch down & cut 1 1/2 to 2 oz pieces and place on greased cookie sheet, 1/2 inch apart. Cover and let rise for 30 min or until double.

Brush top with egg wash; sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds. Bake 400 for 15-20 minutes.
