1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons of flour
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon of allspice
4-5 cups of tart apples, peeled and thinly sliced

Pastry Crust
2 cups flour
3/4 teaspoons salt
2/3 cup shortening (like Crisco shortening)
6-7 tablespoons of cold water

1. Mix sugar, flour and spices - sprinkle half of mixture in pastry-lined pan - add apples and cover with remaining sugar mixture. Preheat over to 350º
2. Moisten edge of bottom crust with water - cover with top crust - trim the pastry one inch out from edge of pan.
3. Tuck top pastry under bottom pastry and press edges together, then flute.
4. Cut large air hole in top pastry
5. Bake at 350º for 45 minutes to one hour. Syrup will bubble out pastry slits when done.

Making Pastry Crust or you can buy one already made
1. Sift flour and salt, cut in shortening. Add water mix with a fork, cutting through mixture with each stroke.
2. Roll out pastry using plenty of flour on board and on rolling pin.
Roll out two pie sized sheets of pastry
