1/2 c. warm water
1 pkg. yeast
2 c. warm milk
1 stick butter, melted
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
2 c. flour
2 eggs
1/4 tsp. baking soda
mini chocolate chips, if desired

*Make the batter the night before*

In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water and let sit 5 minutes. Add butter, milk, salt, sugar and flour and beat until smooth. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and let stand overnight at room temperature.

Just before cooking, beat in the eggs and baking soda. Stir well. The batter will be very thin. Pour into a hot waffle iron. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips if desired.

Note: The batter keeps well in the refrigerator for several days.
