2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
6 cups water
3 teaspoons ground hot peppers
6 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon West Indian curry powder
3 cups yellow peas (also known as dahl)
1 teaspoon ground jeera (also known as cumin)

Directions:
Directions:
Boil peas, add turmeric and baking powder. Boil for 15 minutes.
When peas are almost cooked, drain, add garlic and put through a dahl grinder.
Once minced or mixed, add all other ingredients and mix until grainy.
Add extra grounded jeera to taste.
The mixture is now ready for input in roti before cooking.
