1-1/4 cup hot water
1 cup quick oatmeal
1 stick of oleo or butter
1-1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 salt
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
Topping for cake
3/4 cup brown sugar 3/4 stick oleo
2 T milk 1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup coconut
Grease and flour bottom of 9 x 12 cake pan

Directions:
Directions:
In mixer bowl, combine hot water, oatmeal and stick of oleo
Stir till oleo melts. Let stand 20 minutes.
Then mix with:
flour, sugars, soda, salt, cinnamon, eggs, and vanilla.
Beat till well blended.
Pour into prepared 9 x 12 cake pan.
Bake in 350º oven for 35 - 40 minutes. Until tooth pick inserted comes out clean.
While cake is baking, prepare topping. Cook on top of stove. Bring to boil and
boil 2 to 3 minutes, adding more milk if necessary.
Spread on warm cake set timer to broil 2 to 4 minutes. until lightly golden.
Watch closely, it burns easily.

Quite a few of my friends and I have burned this cake when broiling. My advice
is don't leave it!!!!!!
