1/2 cup sugar
1 envelope of regular yeast
1 tsp salt
2 cups warm water
4 T melted shortening
7 or 8 cups flour,( 2 cups whole wheat flour can be substuted for some white)
1 egg (can be omitted) I don't use egg for dinner rolls

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl, Add sugar and salt, pour warm water over sugar.
Sprinkle yeast over top of water, immediately, stir until yeast is dissolved
Add warm melted shortening. Stir. At this point, add in egg. Mix thoroughly.
Add 4 cups flour, blend. Continue adding flour until dough is stiff enough to
transfer to pastry sheet. Knead, adding flour, and kneading until dough is plyable, but not real stiff. Transfer to greased bowl to rise.Grease top with
melted butter. Cover.
Let rise until double in bulk.
Work off a batch of rolls, into roll pan. Cloverleaf - 3 small balls in each section.Grease tops with melted butter. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes, or until golden.
After first batch is used, return rest of dough to bowl, cover and refrigerate for
later.

To Make cinnamon rolls. Roll out dough on pastry sheet. Spread with oleo or
butter. Combine sugar and cinnamon, and spread over dough. roll up dough.
Grease a pie pan with butter. Sprinkle brown sugar in pan, drizzle corn syrup
or maple syrup over sugar. Can add pecans at this point.
Slice rolled up dough 2 inch thick slices, and layer into prepared pie pan
Bake at 350 for 20 minutes until lightly browned. Turn out onto large plate.
