2 cups brown sugar, packed
1 cup shortening
3 eggs
1 tsp soda
4 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
2 T milk
1 tsp vanilla

Filling
1-3/4 cups of raisins
1/2 to 2/3 cup of sugar
2 T flour

Directions:
Directions:
Put sugar & flour in 2 qt saucepan, Add 1 cup hot water and raisins.
Cook until clear. Set aside.
Cream brown sugar, milk, vanilla and shortening, add eggs. Beat together.
On waxed paper, add flour, soda, baking powder, and salt. Add to sugar
mixture, and blend thoroughly.
Refrigerate for several hours, until dough is firm enough to roll out.
Roll out on pastry sheet. Cut dough with cookie cutter.
Put a teaspoon of filling center of cookie. Put top on cookie, and seal.
Continue until dough is all used.
Bake at 350 on lightly greased cookie sheet until lightly browned.(10-12 minutes)
